peristome teeth are present in the theca part of capsule in mosses. these are 32 in number & are present in 2 round circles in 2 rings. these work same as elaters work in spore dispersal in that of liverworts.
plese recheck Q 14…
generally all bryophytes are Haplontic (Gametophytic) and funaria, polytrichum are the examples of bryophytes..
ya,i agree with you, and acc. to ncert, the ans should be either funaria or polytrichum……plz help administrator
u r mistaken…bryo n pterido are haplo diplontic in life cycle n ustilago( correct ans ) is a chlorophyceae…haplontic
plz share us some tricks on how to remember the ploidy level of life cycle (haplontic,diplontic,haplo-diplontic)
examples
i dont have any trick but an easy way!!
Haplontic : Algae , Bryophytes
Diplontic : pteridophytes , Gymnosperm , Angiosperm
and Fucus* (algae)
Haplo – diplontic :
Bryophytes** , pteridophytes**
ectocarpus*, polysiphonia* (algae)
* exception in algae
** bryophytes have dominating haplotic but can show haplo diplontic
similarly pteridophytes have dominating phase as diplontic but can also show haplo diplontic…
